The extension of GST’s annual return filing date comes at a time when taxpayers are busy with their income tax filing for which the deadline is December 31st.

In August, the government gave many small businesses a relaxation of the annual return filing requirement. GST annual return must be submitted by businesses with cr 2 crore or more in annual sales in FY21. The separate reconciliation statement must be submitted by businesses with ₹ five crore or more sales. This self-certified statement is for the reconciliation of the value of inventories provided in the return for the financial year, with the audited annual financial statement.
